Up all night - work all day.

This weekend I have the much anticipated Crawl 4 The Cure charity event up in Gilbert, MN. This is an event that is put on as a joint effort between my "Jeep Club" (Twin City Off Road) and another local off-roading club. In preperation of the event I have been busy getting the Jeep ready for action and trying to figure out a place for the family to stay over the weekend. What originally started as a discussion on the possibly pitfalls of tent camping with a 10 month old and a 3 year old quickly escalated into a full blown mission to find an RV! For the past few weeks Nicole and I have been looking for the perfect motorhome for the family - and to complicate things it must also be able to pull my 6000 pound Jeep/trailer combo. The motorhomes in our pricerange tend to be mid 80's - early 90's vintage and each one has its share of quirks or problems. We are quickly learning that combining a house with a truck and driving it 50 or 100,000 miles makes for some interesting potential problems. We have looked at a few but just have not found that perfect unit yet.

Not wanting to rush into a buying decision for something that has the potential for becoming a money pit I started to look for a temporary solution. I ended up getting a truck camper from a fellow Jeeper on www.mn-jeep.com. The price was right - FREE - but the catch was that it needed "a little work". Paige was so exctied when I brought home the camper and she couldn't wait to get in and poke around inside it.

Friday night began what has become a literal marathon of extensive repair work to my free camper. I did not sleep a wink Friday night - and just when I was wrapping up to come in and lay down Paige opened up the garage door wanting to come out and see what I was doing. That was at 6:00 am. Since then I have worked several nights and even taken a day off of work in order to get this project done for the weekend so Nicole and the girls can come with me to Gilbert. If all goes well I will have it ready to go before I got to bed tonight - hopefully before 3 am!

The girls just keep growing up on me - and Addy is changing so fast it is just unreal. She is standing all the time now and has even started to move her feet around while she is holding on to things. She especially loves to stand next to the shower and whine and wimper until I give in and let her come in with me. Both her and Paige are going through a bout of "Mine" sydrome. This is what I am calling the battle between these 2 girls over everything from a stuffed animal to Mommy and Daddy's attention! Some days they get along wonderfully and others it is a real challenge to keep you sanity. When things get hectic and my patience is growing thin I do my best just to think about how lucky I am just to have such a wonderful family.

Happy 4th of July!
