We were on a week vacation to Breezy point last week. We had a week to use from our timeshare (the very first week we have used since we bought it in 2001) and we could have went to sunny Florida or something warmer but we figured for the price of 4 plane tickets all the kids really care about is a pool. We have some friends in the Brainerd area that we have been planning on visiting for several years. It was also New Years and that seems to be a fiasco with little ones so this way we were just able to relax and not get sitters lined up, etc. The Strom's were so kind to host us at their very large and beautiful home in Nisswa in New Years. They have 3 boys but 2 of them are little 3 and under 1 so the girls had alot of fun playing with them.
We had a very, very laid back and relaxing week. We watched cable, since we don't have it and then we watched more cable. I was reminded why we don't have cable and probably won't be getting it anytime soon. I think Dave and I could have sat there and watched TV all week. But we did get out. We went to a waterpark for a day. Addy is not a huge fan of waterparks, as we are reminded when we go but seem to forget or think she has gotten over it. This place we went had a huge bucket of water at the ceiling that would fill up and dump out on the water park. Well that really didn't go over - after an hour or so I was able to get her to go in the pools and relax a little. I think she will come around someday. If you ask her about the waterpark all she says is Big Bucket, I was scared. Paige on the other hand just loves it. She was going down the big slide that the adults go down, well one of them, in a tube with me or Dave. I am a little over protective. She is 4. But she couldn't get enough, Dave and I had enough of the stairs to the top though. We did a little shopping, very little most of the shops in Nisswa and Pequot Lakes are closed during the week but I was able to score some really good deals on Sat. since most of the shops were closing down for the winter. We also visited with our friends Annie and Todd for a night at their lovely home. Annie's house always looks so nice. She loves to decorate like me and she is always changing something. It seems it had all been repainted and decorated since the last time I was there. We went tubing on Sat. at a tubing hill that you take a tow rope to the top. All very intimating to me, from my skiing days I have bad memories of tow ropes. Also how do you get 2 big people and 2 very little people to the top with 4 tubes. I also have never been a fan of going super fast. I don't tube behind the boat either. I think I figured out that it is the total lack of control that I really don't like and I just really can't wait until it is over. I actually managed pretty well. It is quite a workout getting up the tow rope though. Addy almost tipped over twice so that was really freaking me out. When we got to the place there was a ambulance there and they said that was the second injury that day. I was thinking why are we taking our little precious children down the large and apparently dangerous hill. But they did fine and I really need to relax. I can be a little protective. I realize more and more each day why god did not give me boys. I would really be a nervous reck.
We got home very late Sat. night and planned on having Sunday to relax and get ready for the week but all the HGTV inspired us - but Dave more so - to get to one of the many projects that we have to do. So we ended up painting our bedroom, we are totally changing the look of our bedroom. I have taken some before shots and will post the before and after when I am done decorating the new room. I really need some new accessories - so it might be awhile. But it really looks good so far and totally different. Dave was so excited to say we got all HG.
Well after christmas and New Years and being gone for a week, it is time to get back in the swing of things. However, Paige was up all night with the flu. So I am home and we now wait to see who else is going to get sick. Such is life and I guess I will get back to things when I can. Oh and happy 2008!!!
