Mom going crazy at christmas!!!

We really had a wonderful christmas this year. I really wish it could always fall on a weekend like that. We were off for 4 days and it was relaxing, well as much as it could be. I had most of the shopping done. There were just a few things to finish up. 90% of the wrapping done, which the girls helped me with - so there were lots of bows on the presents. I made it fun and wrapped the girls' presents in special pink snowman paper. I just loved the look on Paige's face when she came down on Christmas Eve morning (I had finally wrapped their things). She was so excited to see there were some things for her under the tree.
The weekend included making of gingerbread houses, snow forts, reindeer candy canes - oh and cookies for santa. I had forgotten to pick up some oreos, since that is what Santa likes, so I luckily had a bunch of baking leftovers from cookie bake earlier in the month, no cookies though :) We whipped up some chocolate peanut butter chip cookies, Dave claims they are better then any other cookie he has had all year. So much for finding new recipes, I guess you should just look at the back of the bag for your next recipe. It has been a long time since we have been able to just relax and enjoy some things. I actually found myself savoring some of the moments as they happened and appreciating them.
Christmas was just extra special this year with the girls, they are so fun. Paige is so curious about christmas. She really gives thought to everything she sees and hears. One day we were riding in the car and out of the blue she asked me if we had a magic hat that we could put on a snowman and make him dance around. I told her no we didn't and she wanted to know where we could get one because the kids put one on frosty and he began to dance around. - so sweet.
Paige was really counting down the days to christmas, it started about 20 days before hand but she really kept track when we got down to 7 days and she would tell me everyday how many were left until christmas.
On christmas eve, we were just hanging around the house and Paige says, mom I really hope it snows tonight or gets really foggy. Of course I had to wonder why. Her response was that she really wants Rudolph to come to our house tonight and that grandma Jodi told her that he only comes when it is really hard to see. We explained to her that rudolph is always working because it is dark and foggy somewhere in the world. So then she told me that she was just going to pretend to sleep because she really wanted to see rudolph - so when she heard him she was going to peek. I was thinking great, I am already going to have to stay up to get out the presents, if she trys to stay up it will be a long night. So we sang the song about how he knows if you are sleeping and he knows if your awake. Phew that saved me this time.
Both girls were so patient waiting for all the adults as well as them to open their presents. You could just see that it was killing them. So at our house, they got to just open their presents one after another and that made them extremely happy. By the third christmas celebrate Paige confessed that she hated waiting for her turn and that she really didn't like grown up presents either. I thought that was cute.
