Hats off to Nicole for doing a great job on her sale and raising more than $1500 for the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation! She put a lot of time and effort into making the sale a success and Barb was a big help to her as well. Nice work!
I have been getting hounded for a long time about not posting on the blog so I will try to throw in my perspective on things from time to time from this point forward. Truth be told I actually misplaced my login and password so I had to start over and create a new account so I can contribute again. Anyway - here I am.
As usual I have been busy with my normal spring and summer routine of driving all over town going to sales and picking up free stuff. Over the past couple of years I have become the butt of many friends and family members jokes but I think at this point everyone is starting to come around. I realize that dealing with other people's old junk is not the most noteworthy or productive use of my time but I do enjoy it and the extra cash is nice too. The "season" started off well with my much anticipated trip to the Medina Clean Up Day where I loaded up a borrowed truck with items that I saved from a final trip to the garbage dump. (This is one reason why I like my newfound title of "recycler".) The sales haven't really panned out yet this year but I promise to keep at it and post up anything that I think is worth reporting on.
Nicole mentioned my latest vehicle (number 30!) that we picked up a few weeks ago. For the guys that read this it is a 1997 Dodge Ram 2500 extended cab, long box with the Cummins Turbo Diesel. It is definitely a BIG truck but not really that much bigger than the 1/2 tons I have owned previously. So far I really like it and I hope to keep this one in the stable for a long time. Being a diesel it should do decent on fuel and so far I have averaged almost 16 mpg - not too bad for a truck that weighs 7000 pounds! As Nicole mentioned it is already setup with a "greasecar" type of system to run waste vegetable oil (WVO) from a seperate heated fuel tank located under the bed of the truck. I have some more research to do but I hope to be running around town using FREE fuel that I get from local restaurants. If you smell some french fries coming from the exhaust of my big truck you know what the story is! Additionally - this truck should have no trouble hauling our camper while towing the Jeep all over the country someday.
Addy and Paige are excited to sleep in Daddy's camper and we hope to get out for a few nights over the coming weekends. If all goes as planned you should see some pictures of our camping trips soon. As I am typing this we are listening to a severe weather advisory that likely passed over our house and no doubt rain all over the camper in our driveway! I guess I will see if the new caulking job held up! Anyway... as Red Green always says, "if women don't find you handsome they may as well find out handy!". Until next time....

Thanks for Ethan Allen - he stands strong and proud that someone gave him a home - who else would accept an honorable gift of a strange looking renegade General for our past but Dave's mom. And by the way David has been going through junk piles and finding treasures sine he was a little kid. Some things never channge. Hats off to you Nik for accepting DD.
