Look what I made in an evening last week
Kinda Clashes with the Olive green couch but work with me here :) It is actually cool fabric, brown and aqua.
Even has 2 pockets and a snap - sweet.
I actually LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to make things and be creative. I also really do like to sew, I don't do it very much because I have haul out the machine and the time and energy I usually put into finding the right things, etc is actually draining. If I didn't have 2 little kids to drag everywhere or to rush home to it would be much more fun. Oh and I'm cheap so it has to strike me and be a good deal - 2 very hard things to find sometimes :) I actually bought the fabric in the afternoon, cut and sewed and was finished in one night. I have gotten much better at sewing and kinda good - well in my little world - I have come a long way. The circles are actually $3 clearance earrings that I grabbed at Walmart since I couldn't hunt down anything for purse hardware. I was in Walmart and decided I just needed to open my mind and I wasn't leaving the store until I found something that would work and it had to be under $5 - Good thing big hoops are in! I gave this bag to Karen for her birthday. I already bought all the fabrics for 2 more bags, however they have zippers and that may pose a challenge but how hard can it be - right?
I felt so good after doing the project, I was excited and happy and it put my spirits in a really great place. I really need to make time to do this stuff because I get some kinda joy from it that I seem to lack elsewhere, I need this instead of medication!
While on the hunt for cool fabric and purse hardware, Paige and I set off to a like fabric store in NE Mpls, I didn't find anything that I had to have. HOWEVER, the store next to it was so cool. It is called Rewind and it is vintage clothing, I couldn't even believe some of the stuff she had in there. It was a tiny little store but she has so much stuff and things from the 30's, 40's, crazy 80's stuff in like brand spankin new shape. High top white reeboks - you know with the velcro Jan Fonda action - brand new and awesome!
I bought a pair of 7 for all mankind jeans for $28, I thought they were really expensive jeans and well they fit - so I grabbed them. I discovered when I got home to search the internet that I am pretty sure they are mens - but oh well, they look good on me. They are $150-190 jeans, sweet score! I had so much fun, I love little shops that are bursting with creativity and I need to visit more of them - often - it was so fun!
