Seriously sad....

I just found out this weekend that a gal I went to high school with passed away in December.

Jenny Gibbs, she was not really a friend of mine. She was more of an icon in our school. One of those people that everyone looked up to and wanted to aspire too. She was very popular, not in a snobby untouchable way. She was nice to everyone she met. Jenny was incredibly smart and a very good athlete. Jenny and Becky Gibbs were twin sisters and people in all grades at our hign school knew about them - they were simply amazing people. There are still swimming records that they broke while attending Wayzata in '93 that remain unbroken. Becky, I have found out is now a professional triathlete - trying out for the olympics. Jenny on the otherhand was suffering from Post Pardum Depression. She gave birth to a boy - Graham in Nov. 07 and she took his life and her own in December.

When a friend of mine was telling me the story I really thought she was making it up. It just sounded to crazy to be real. I looked it up on google and it is all to true. Her family has started a foundation, Jenny's light to help support other mothers with post pardum and spread awareness about this horrible condition. Check out the site and spread the word - this can happen to anyone!

Wow. Wow. I don't even know what to say after reading that. Heartbreaking.

Yeah - really depressing for sure. We were looking at all this on the web this weekend and it was really sad. Being a man without depression issues I have a real hard time wrapping my head around killing yourself -let alone your baby that hasn't even had a chance to live yet. Wow. Very, very sad.
