The was after the first day, getting to camp - 20 miles down!
A stroll through Battle Creek in St. Paul, nice place if haven't been, great scenery. We even spotted a deer.
This is Day 2 me (left), Liz (middle), and Tanya (left) my tent mate. We were striking a pose or something :) This was actually a really cool overlook. The picture doesn't do it justice. You could see St.paul and in the distance Minneapolis skyline as well.
This gal in the wheel chair did the walk in 2004 when I did and has ever since. She doesn't even have handles to push her on the wheel chair. Amazing - truly. One of the saying on signs throughout the weekend was "Some say "I can't" you say "Watch me"" This picture reminds me of that.
Wrapping up 40 miles day 2!! on the right is Liz's sister Mary Kaye
Here we are (some of the crew) heading out on day 3.
Liz and I at the closing ceremony - 60 miles done! We still look great - don't ya think?
Liz cheering in the survivors, she chooses to walk in with friends and family not in with the survivors to closing ceremony. We were all kneeling and raising our shoes to the survivors and Liz stood to cheer them on. I think that Liz is most selfless person I know, always concerned about everyone else.

Nik and Dave - I can't begin to tell you both how proud I am of both of you. With Nicki walking and Dave watching the girls, the weekend was truly a success. Your courage and perseverance, Nicki is an inspiration to us all. This dreaded disease called breast cancer is hopefully one step closer to a cure. David, your Nicki would not have been able to accomplish this task without your continuous support and guidance. I raise my glass to both of you in always taking the road less travelled to make a better world for the little ones who can proudly walk in your footsteps. Thank you and I love you both very much.
Thanks Mom - but I deserve no thanks or praise whatsoever in this. Me watching the kids is not something that is special or great - it is only part of my being a Dad and a partner to my wife. Nicole and I both take great joy in spending time with our girls and we both have our opportunity to have time alone with them. Nicole spends more time alone with them than I do - so she deserves just as much credit for watching them when I am off doing my things. Unfortunately it seems like everyone just expects that this is something a Mom does and it usually goes completely un-noticed. (I have realized that this is probably a societal issue - not something that is unique to our situation.) Whether it is a softball game, a weekend while I am doing the Crawl 4 The Cure, deer hunting or a day spent in the garage - Nicole does more than her share to be sure. We work as a team.
This post is about the enourmous extra effort that Nicole put towards making the 3-Day a success- not about us doing our normal parenting roles and watching our own kids.
Mom - Thank you for your kind words of praise and your loving support - we love you too! ;-)
Nicole, hooray for you! I knew you could do it, no problem. What a wonderful gift you give to others and yourself by being involved in the 3 day walk. My hats off to you. You give me great pride in ALL that you do. I love you and keep on smiling. XOXO
